Self Portrait

I used different techniques to make my self portrait. First, I edited my photo in photoshop. Then, used the stencil technique in the print making class to print a pattern on it. After that, I painted and drew on top of the image. And finally, I scanned it and used photoshop and illustrator to put the last layer of pattern on it.

Iron Pour at GSU Sculpture Building

Last night I went GSU Sculpture Building and I took some pictures to document event for GSU website. The event itself was amazing, I wish all of the students could attend. There was a visiting artist from Scotland. His proficiency was using ice as a mold to make sculpture. He curved inside of the ice cube with a drill and poured iron in it. The hot iron in the ice formed a wonderful shape.

I studied After Effect a little bit and make this movie out of type and pictures. At first, I didn't want to have any image in the movie, but the gaps between the types are too much and it get boring to have only the animated Lyrics. I will try to come back to it later after this semester and work on it more. Right now, I don't want to put more time on it, since there are a lot of final projects to do.

Logo design for the Bottle of Wine

To redesign the bottle of the wine logo, I used one of my persian miniature paintings from about 10 years ago. I edited the painting to make it more abstract looking. In traditional persian culture, wine has been always used in classical poems as a symbol of the joy and love. I personally cannot think of wine without recalling those poems. Hence, the logo is just the depiction of my mind set of wine.

I had my husband to take this picture of me and then I edited it for my personal website project in Multimedia class. The poem I wrote on the picture is a translated version of a persian poem. I love the poet and all of her poems. That's why I chose to use her poem for my self portrait.
The poem is:

I speak out of the deep of night
out of the deep of darkness
and out of the deep of night I speak.

Thank you Jason for your comments. You are absolutely right about the color, I changed it directly. As for my illustration, I tried to incorporate that with the new design. I don't know how it look, because I over looked at it.

Again different direction

I decided again to change my direction to design MFA poster. I think the mini critic we had in the class was so helpful for me. By this way, I can easily notice if I am not in a right track. I wish we could have as much critic as that I feel comfortable with my design.
By the way, for this version of Poster design, I used Photoshop to make the background, some of the type was changed in After Effect ( I enjoyed working in After Effect so much, thanks to Edgar!), and the rest is done in Illustrator as usual. I am still working on the background, and the typeface, I am not sure if it is my best choice.

These are the pictures I took in Dunwoody area, perimeter mall which is very close to our house. It's very live place. You can see people in the street walking and dining out. Seeing crowd in the street even at late night is what I miss from my country. That's why I like going to this kind of area. Thursday night, I tried to fix the problem on the book I made as a specialty item. It was such a stressful thing to do. If I mess up with any thing, there would not be enough time to fix it. Finally, I successfully finished working on it and now I think the craft is much better inside the frame. I also changed one of my postcards that Mike gave me comment on and I made the new one.

I tried to create some new ads on this weekend. I took some photos on the street to show the routine life of people and the need of art to fulfill the soul and its power to refresh the senses. But, I didn't like my work at the end, so I decided to keep working on my older versions of ads and do the refinements on them.
